HAWAII FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION
SCHOLARSHIP (TUITION REIMBURSEMENT) PROGRAM
PURPOSE: To provide a scholarship program for firefighters of fire service organizations throughout the State of Hawaii.
DEFINITION: The scholarship program shall be in the form of a tuition reimbursement where the applicant for the Hawaii Fire Chiefs Association (HFCA) scholarship is required to provide proof of satisfactory completion.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: The President of the HFCA shall appoint a Scholarship Committee comprised of three members to review and recommend approval of the scholarships.
GUIDELINES: The following instructions shall be followed:
- Scholarships shall be restricted to fire personnel up to the rank of Fire Captain. Fire Recruits are not eligible and permanent status is required.
- The course curriculum shall be related to the fire service, managerial, or leadership subjects.
- The total of $100 may be granted for every three credit course with the aggregate total scholarship not exceeding $300 per scholarship request.
- Each fire service organization in the State of Hawaii shall be restricted to an aggregate total not exceeding $300.
The following documents shall be submitted:
- Cover letter of scholarship request with approval of their Fire Chief.
- Transcript reflecting satisfactory completion (a grade of C or better) of a three credit course or equivalent.
- Proof of tuition payment.
